Portland Band, River Twain, Live

Within the last couple weeks, I had the bittersweet opportunity to say, “Bon Voyage” to Andrea Waltz and Richard Fenton, creators and authors of the life-changing book, “Go For No.”

They took off to Florida this last weekend to spend a couple years both relaxing and touring, sharing their stories about how other people can take the word, “NO” and turn it into a positive for their life. Anyway, back to the story….

Andrea and Richard had a going away party at Savona Coffee House, down on the Vancouver, WA waterfront. They rented out the place, served up delicious food, opened the place up for free drinks for us all (about 20 of us, I recall), and even had a live band for us. That’s where River Twain comes in.

This is a duo that does some pretty darned good music! It’s a bluesy-soul type of feel that keeps your foot tapping. Take a look at the video I shot of them while there and let me know what you think:

Portland Jazz Festival Means Portland Fun

This year’s them for the Portland Jazz Festival is, “Is Jazz Dead (Or Has It Moved to a New Address)? – New Music from Norway.”  This annual time of local, national and international jazz attracts some of the top artists in the industry.  But, that is just the tip of the iceberg. We’re talking Portland here, folks, and when we have an event, it’s a city-wide one.

Get Your Fill at 2009 Musicfest NW

Moving into it’s 9th year, Musicfest NW is a Portland event brought to you by the local publication, Willamette Week, that celebrates the diversity of music genres throughout the city of Portland over a 4-day jaunt.

Bluegrass, Hip Hop, Indie, Punk and mucho more music styles will be rocking they city at various venues around the city from September 16 – 20th, 2009. The Roseland Theatre, Satyricon, Ash Street Salloon, the Wonder Ballroom and other locations will be hosting multiple bands each night. You could actually turn it into a sort of Scavenger Hunt, if you’re into games, as you hop from place to place, in a mad attempt to catch all the tunes. ;)
