Portland Hosts Lumberjack Competition Preview

August 20th, 2010

lumberjacks in portlandReady to see big, burly lumberjacks grunt and sweat, all for your entertainment?  I am!  The ESPN Stihl Timbersports Series Lumberjack Competition will be held next week, August 24th, from 3:00PM-6:00PM at the Carhartt Store at Cascade Station- 10280 NE Cascades Parkway, right here in Portland.  That’s up near the Portland Airport (PDX).

This is sure to be an exciting event and a great lead in to the big lumberjack competition to be held at the Oregon State Fair’s opening weekend, August 27-29 in Salem.

Stamina, strength and speed is the name of the game as some of the best lumberjacks and lumberjills will be in fierce competition.  This event will feature a chop-showdown by top competing lumberjacks David Moses, the Series U.S. Professional competitor and David Green, Collegiate Series competitor.

This should be a lot of fun for the entire family.  I’ll be there to shoot video of the entire event.  See you there!

Portland Pro Wrestling Battles Hunger

November 2nd, 2009

Portland WrestlingThis is a Portland Pro Wrestling event that I can’t tell you how much I am looking forward to!

The 2 Portland promotions, DOA Pro Wrestling and NWWA Pro Wrestling are tag-teaming to beat Oregon hunger and win one for needy families all around the state. Beginning Saturday, November 21, they will be putting together a 73-hour wrestling specatular, featuring not only grapplers from both promotions, but stars from across the country coming in.  All of this to benefit the Oregon Food Bank!

In true Rose City spirit, both contending promotions set aside their differences for 3 days and work their tails off to put on a hell of a show for the fans in the northwest and give back in spades to the community. Who said wrestlers don’t have a soft spot?

$5 or 2 cans of food will get you in the door. That is one awesome event and something that you don’t want to miss!

This bash-fest goes straight through until Tueday evening, non-stop and I’ll be there to cover the whole bloody thing (pun intended)!

For all the information, head over to DOA Pro Wrestling web site.

Men’s Roller Derby Debuts in Portland

September 2nd, 2009

Rose City Rollers of Portland, Oregon

I’ve truly been waiting for this! Portland’s own professional Roller Derby team, the Rose City Rollers, will be hosting an open scrimmage on September 18th for the new men’s teams.

The girls are great already, so let’s go and see what the men can do. The action starts at 8:00pm (doors open at 7:30pm) at the Oaks Park Hanger. It’s a cheap $5 to get in.

Maybe you aren’t satisfied just to watch, but want to be a part of the bumps and bruises. Not a problem there! Contact the powers-that-be at the Rose City Roller’s web site and let them know you’re ready for duty.

See you there! ;)

Trail Blazer Brandon Roy Signs Extension

August 17th, 2009

Three season old, Brandon Roy, has recently been signed to a multi-year brand extension with the Portland Trail Blazers.

In his short tenure with the Blazers,  Guard Roy has been exceptional in turning the Portland team around and back into a force to be reckoned with in the NBA.

No terms of the deal were made available, but just knowing that Brandon Roy will be working with this team of Trail Blazers is enough information for me.

Watch some of Brandon Roy’s sweet moves below:
